Well, I took an old link and decreased increment values ai and ci to make shape shifting more gradual.

At the same time, I changed the number of iterations from 200 to 100. The image lost some detail. However, it’s generated much faster now.

The blur value of 0.95 is so close to 1.00 that I cannot even see the difference.

Mysterious

I tried to explain to my wife why I’m so intrigued by these images.

I switched my TV to a dead channel to show some random, white noise. There weren’t any patterns, any familiar shapes visible, only disorder. That’s easy to understand.

Then I told how it’s a mystery for me how the simple mathematical formulas with different parameters convey so vast collection of different shapes. There’s so much order in these images.

There’s so much art – if you will – encoded into the formulas. Different parameters are like different strands of DNA: small change and you get different outcome.

The increment values ai and ci are set to 1, so things happen pretty quickly.

If you are wondering why I’m so obsessed with these images… It’s because I really can’t understand how changing a few values here and there creates images so rich and varied. As an example, how come there’s suddenly a water droplet flowing down the rainbowish arc?
